We have been very excited to offer this piece to market for some time and we can now confirm, it’s finally ready.

Back in June, a gentleman reached out to us in regard to a watch that he had inherited from his father. His father had bought the watch in 1972 and upon the passing of his father, it was handed down to him.

The watch in question was this, a Tudor Chronograph “Monte Carlo” ref. 7149/0. We met with the gentleman who showed us the watch and he explained to us that his father had worn it daily for over forty years, and absolutely loved his watch. When he passed, his son had kept it in a draw as a family heirloom until someone mentioned to him that this particular watch, had gone on to be considered a cult hero. This is when he reached out to us. Upon hearing the news of this watch, we were very excited. The gentleman brought the watch to us and we bought it from him in hope to give this beautiful piece a new lease of life.

The watch was worn but underneath the marks and wear, we could see it was a very nice, original example which can be hard to find with these. Since then, we have gone to some efforts to gently restore the watch to the standard you find it today. The lume to the dial and hands have developed in to a lovely colour. The condition of the dial and hands is very good with only minor signs of age. The bracelet is the original 7836 Rolex signed Oyster bracelet which is also dated to 1972. This also matches to the dating of the watch and the date inside the caseback. Inside we find the manual wind Valjoux 234 movement which we have now serviced, without changing components, to an accurate standard.

We have opted to keep the watch as close to original as we can, without changing components such as the bezel insert, dial, hands, movement components, bracelet and crystal. The only key component we had to replace was the pusher located at 2 which had sadly been lost some time ago. This has been replaced with a period correct pusher. We have opted to not polish the case and gently clean the original crystal to preserve as much originality as we can.

If you are interested in this piece and wish for us to restore it further, this is absolutely possible. We have decided to keep this however as the discretion of the next custodian of this watch. The watch will be supplied also with before and after photos so you can be aware of what took place during the restoration process.

Watches like this are lovely to find, they hold stories and tales told through years of enjoyment. We can now bring this watch to you in hope of finding it a new home to make more memories with. The price for this, is also one of the most competitive you will find out there. Message now for more details and to make it yours.
