This Rolex Submariner Ref. 5513 is a beautifully preserved example from 1968, fitted with one of the most desirable early matte dial configurations.
The original meters first dial is in superb condition, with the depth rating printed as 200m before 660ft. This is one of the key traits collectors look for on early matte Rolex Submariner 5513 examples. The lume plots and hands have aged together with a soft eggshell patina, giving the watch exactly the kind of balanced vintage character that cannot be recreated.
The watch is housed in a 40mm stainless steel Oyster case, with the inside caseback stamped for the fourth quarter of 1968. It is powered by the Rolex calibre 1520 automatic movement, a robust no-date calibre that sits at the heart of many great vintage Submariners.
Another important detail is the original bezel with its kissing 4 insert. This is a highly collectible insert variation, named because the thicker font on the 4 in 40 touches the 0. These small period-correct details are exactly what separate a strong vintage Submariner from an average one.

This Submariner 5513 presents exceptionally well, with a beautifully clean original meters first dial and matching hands. The lume has aged to an attractive eggshell tone, giving the watch a warm and honest vintage appearance.
