Case: 40mm steel unpolished case.
Dial: Original black 'Mark 4' maxi dial with original hands. Tritium lume has developed in to a pumpkin tone.
Bezel: Original 'Mark 2' bezel insert. Lume plot is missing. We have opted to leave this as found, if a replacement insert or lume pip is requested, this can be sourced for the next custodian.
Crystal: Domed acrylic crystal.
Bracelet: Original 93150 bracelet.

When Rolex unveiled the Submariner in 1953, it revolutionized the watch industry. Since its groundbreaking debut, Rolex has continuously pushed the boundaries of innovation with this iconic model. Enter the early 1960s, and the ref. 5513 made its grand entrance. Initially, it dazzled with a glossy dial until 1966, when Rolex switched gears to a matte dial, a feature that remained until around 1984. The no-date Submariner, with its distinctive two lines of text above six o’clock, has become a timeless classic, adored by watch enthusiasts worldwide.
This particular gem from 1982 boasts the coveted “Maxi” dial. Introduced by Rolex in the late 1970s, this dial style was in production until around 1984, when Rolex added white gold surrounds to the lume plots and transitioned to a glossy lacquer finish. The “Maxi” dial is famed for its larger lume plots, a bold upgrade from previous models. Rolex revisited this larger lume plot design in 2003 for the 50th Anniversary Submariner, the ref. 16610LV. Among the five variations of the Maxi 5513 dial, this watch features the Mark IV dial. Notable for its “Submariner” branding above the depth rating and the striking “zig-zag” font of the “S” in Submariner, the Mark IV dial is a true standout. Most importantly, the watch’s case number aligns perfectly with the correct serial range for this dial variation.
