This is, hands down, one of the best Submariners we have ever offered at Watts On Watches. The reference 16610 arrived in 1988 and represents the fourth iteration of Rolex’s stainless steel date-displaying dive watch. This particular example is one of the earliest models manufactured in 1990 and sold in 1991. The watch sports modern benefits such as a Sapphire crystal and a 300-meter depth rating. These benefits arrived with the second generation of the Submariner and gave it a modern wearability, however this 16610 also sports a number of vintage characteristics which make it particularly desirable.
This 16610 has aged perfectly over the last 31 years and comes in fantastic original condition. The dial and hands sport a beautiful and even creamy patina, the bezel still has its creamy tritium lume pip and has began to turn a wonderful ghosted grey colour on the edges and the case and bracelet are sharp and unpolished. It is also complete with box and papers dated to 1991.
