The Rolex 5513 Submariner, a reference so complicated you could write a book about it. Some people already have.

The 5513 is the longest running reference in Rolex history, Rolex introduced the 5513 back in 1962 and began phasing out the reference a whole 27 years later in 1989. Because of this, when most people think of a vintage Submariner, a 5513 often comes to mind. Due to the fact that the watch ran for so many years, this makes the 5513 very collectible for Rolex collectors. Why you may ask? Simply because of the amount of variations the 5513 can offer. The amount of variations of the 5513 can actually be overwhelming if you are slightly newer to the vintage scene, do you want a gloss or matte dial? Whats a Mil-Sub? Well allow us to take you out of the dark and into the light and explain why this particular 5513 is a gem to add to your collection, whether it is your first or last 5513 to slip into your watch box.

As this watch was produced in 1988, it is one of the later 5513 models to be produced. This means it sports a wonderful gloss dial. The 5513 saw lots of different dial variations, matte dials, gilt dials and of course gloss dials being some of the most produced. The gloss dial found in this watch is ageing perfectly, the tritium lume has turned a wonderful pumpkin colour which is maturing evenly with the hands. The way that this watch plays in the light under is a sight to behold.

The 5513 saw lots of variations in the bracelet department, from riveted links, to folded all the way to a solid link bracelet. As this is a later 5513, it sports its original solid link bracelet making this a much more durable option for a 5513 compared to some of the earlier and slightly less durable bracelets that can be found.

All this aside however, what makes this a perfect 5513? Well look at it, the wonderful lume, the case that is still sharp and a little sprinkling of Rolex service history just for good measure. Whether this is your first step into the vintage Submariner world or another one for your collection, with a watch this pretty, You can’t be disappointed.
