This is a serious collector’s Speedmaster.
The Omega Speedmaster Ref. 105.003, better known as the “Ed White”, is one of the most important references in the history of the Speedmaster line. Named after astronaut Ed White, who wore this reference during the first American spacewalk in 1965, it represents the final pre-Professional case design before the introduction of crown guards.
Examples are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Finding one at this level is something else entirely.
The case is completely original and unpolished, retaining its sharp edges, clean lines and correct proportions. This is critical on an Ed White. The purity of the straight lug case is what defines the reference, and here it remains exactly as it should.
The bezel is exceptional. A correct dot over 90 example that has developed a beautiful tropical tone over time. This soft ageing gives the bezel a warmth and character that perfectly complements the rest of the watch and is highly sought after by collectors.
The dial is equally strong. A deep black base with evenly aged tritium lume that has turned a rich caramel tone. The markers and hands match beautifully, creating that cohesive, untouched look that defines top end vintage pieces.
Inside sits the Omega calibre 321 movement, widely regarded as one of the finest chronograph movements ever produced. Column wheel architecture, historic significance and exceptional finishing make it one of the most desirable movements in vintage watch collecting.
