Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Ref. E855

£2,950.00
  • Year: 1969.

  • Movement: Automatic Calibre 825, the first automatic alarm wristwatch to incorporate the calendar complication.

  • Case Size: 37mm.

  • Dial and Bezel: Silver dial.

  • Crystal: Acrylic crystal.

  • Bracelet: Taupe leather strap from Quaint and Collectible.

  • This watch is sold as watch only, which is typical for vintage timepieces. We place greater value on condition, originality, and overall integrity than on whether a box or papers happen to be present. Many vintage watches have lost their packaging over time, and we don’t believe in inflating prices with non-original extras.

If a watch does include genuine box and papers, this will always be clearly noted in the description. All purchases come with bespoke Watts On Watches packaging and full purchase documentation.

  • Every watch we sell is fully inspected and professionally serviced to meet our exacting standards. We stand by the quality of our stock, which is why every purchase comes with a 12-month warranty as standard.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox Ref. E855 is one of the most celebrated alarm watches in horological history. Introduced in the 1950s and continuously refined into the late 1960s, the Memovox ("voice of memory") was a pioneering creation—providing a mechanical alarm complication at a time when personal wristwatch alarms were still a novelty.

This 1969 example houses the Calibre 825, an evolution of JLC’s legendary Calibre 815, and notable for being the first automatic alarm movement with a date complication. The watch features a classic silver dial, housed in a 37mm steel case with dual crowns for setting time and alarm functions. This is a watch for the enthusiast who appreciates technical ingenuity paired with understated elegance.
