In the cult hit classic ‘American Pyscho’ by Bret Easton Ellis, Patrick Bateman is a man known and loved for his obsession with the finer things in life (as well as the occasional murder) and his watch is no exception. Sometimes the iconic line about his choice of wrist wear often comes up for discussion. Is it “Don’t touch the watch” or “Don’t touch the Rolex”? Well those of us that have both seen the film and read the book will actually know it’s both. Bret Easton Ellis describes Patrick’s watch in the book in great detail and we have the exact example he described.

Adorned with a yellow gold crown, bezel and centre links this particular example is topped off with a beautiful rare champagne tapestry dial. This watch has been one of the poster boys for Rolex since the brands 40th anniversary in 1945. With a selection of upgrades over the years including improved movements, improved crystal material, quickset dates and cyclops magnifications, this particular Datejust carries all of the improvements one should require and is a fantastic example. The watch was manufactured in 1988 and sports the ultra reliable Rolex 3135 calibre as used in many Rolex Date watches since the 1980’s. This watch is offered with box and papers.
